The newest business venture at Service Enterprises, Inc. is up, running and filling the Redwood Falls west building with the flavorful aroma of coffee.
In late August, Service Enterprises officially became a distributor of Jumpy Monkey™ Premium Coffee and work began in early October with its packaging and distribution from the assembly area. Clients are involved in the tasks of opening coffee bags, filling bags with product, weighing, labeling and attaching the re-sealable tape strip as the packaging operation is buzzing. It is planned that clients will also help with delivery and marketing of coffee. The coffee is being distributed for sale at 25 businesses in 20 communities with the list continually growing.
The Jumpy Monkey™ business provides additional work for the individuals served by Service Enterprises, a unique opportunity to partner with another nonprofit which serves people with disabilities, some excellent public relations and a chance to offer a quality product in the gourmet coffee market.
Jumpy Monkey™ is a coffee roasting company operated by Opportunities Unlimited, a Sioux City, Iowa, nonprofit corporation which provides rehabilitation and therapeutic services for individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or other physical disability. Jumpy Monkey™/Opportunities Unlimited has chosen to partner with other nonprofit organizations which serve individuals with disabilities as distributors. Service Enterprises, Inc. is the first Minnesota organization to become a Jumpy Monkey™ distributor and has selected a 35-county area to service.
“The unique collaboration between two rehabilitation facilities in two states has created a true win-win situation for all concerned,” said SEI Executive Director Stephen Kohn. “Individuals with severe and profound disabilities in both states receive excellent paid work training opportunities and each of our organizations benefits from the revenue and positive public relations that are generated through this venture.”
Jumpy Monkey™ Coffee prides itself on its commitment to quality and freshness. Once an order is placed by a customer, Service Enterprises orders and is shipped freshly roasted coffee within 48 to 72 hours. The coffee is packaged with a “roasted on” date, which lets consumers know the product is indeed fresh. Service Enterprises carries 19 different flavored varieties and five coffee blends at present.
Service Enterprises, Inc. received a $2,000 donation from Minnwest Bank of Redwood Falls to assist with the start-up costs of the coffee venture. The coffee is being introduced to the public through tasting demos at grocery stores and other businesses which carry the product and public events such as the Old Fashioned Fall Festival and Festival of Trees in Redwood Falls, Business After Hours events in Marshall and Redwood Falls, and Beneath the Village Wreath in Morton.
It is available at many area locations and can be purchased at the Service Enterprises, Inc. office at 515 West Bridge Street in Redwood Falls. Individuals supported by Service Enterprises are also creating gift baskets and gift ideas for any occasion using Jumpy Monkey™ Coffee and Morgan Brand Popcorn products.
