SUBJECT:  Service Enterprises, Inc. Recognizes Ness Tire

 Service Enterprises, Inc. recently recognized Vince and Dianne Ness, owners of Ness Tire Supply Inc. of Redwood Falls with its Employer Recognition Award for 2006.  The award is given annually to recognize individuals and businesses for exemplary support of and commitment to providing opportunities for people with disabilities.

In September of 2003, Ness Tire contracted with SEI to have one client and a job coach perform cleaning duties at the business twice weekly.   The contract remains in place and has proved a successful working relationship and opportunity for both.

“We enjoy having them come,” said Dianne.  “They do a good job,” added Vince.

Last September, while on the cleaning job, a staff person from SEI learned of a new job opportunity at Ness.  The job matched up with a new client’s skills and interests and the placement has been a win-win situation.

“All of the people we serve want to be part of and contribute to the communities in which they live.  Efforts by businesses like Ness Tire help make that happen,” said SEI Executive Director Stephen Kohn. 

Since his placement with Ness Tire, the client has told Service Enterprises staff he hopes to work there until he retires and mentioned repeatedly how grateful he is to have a job, added Karin Ramey, Director of Rehabilitation Services.

The Nesses received a framed award which includes an Eleanor Roosevelt quote: “Our own success, to be real, must contribute to the success of others. 

Service Enterprises, Inc., is a private nonprofit corporation, which for more than 35 years has been providing vocational training, employment and other services to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness and other barriers to employment. SEI operates sites in Redwood Falls and Marshall and serves clients through employment, social activity and personal care programs.
